The Ugly Duckling

In Waking Beauty Allison awakes to discover she's no longer a hideous, fat, troll of a woman. Somehow, she's morphed into a magnificently beautiful model overnight. While I found the fairy tale premise somewhat annoying, I did enjoy that the book was honestly pessimistic. The moral appears to be that what's on the inside only counts if you're attractive too.
