Blah blah blah terrorist

Ordinarily I love Nelson DeMille's writing. His sarcastic humor and social satire makes it possible for me to ignore the formulaic plots and stereotypical characters. But it didn't work in The Lion's Game. I found the pre 9/11 terrorist plot engaging enough, but the love story between the main character John, a former NYPD cop, and Kate, his FBI boss, was irritating at best. At 688 pages, I felt cheated when I finished.
